Mattie Miriam Kizer Mizzell, 101, of Harleyville, widow of Woodrow Mack Mizzell, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the St. George Healthcare Center.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Indian Field United Methodist Church with Pastor Douglas Marchant officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service in the church.
Pallbearers will be Scott Mizzell, Tony Mizzell, Jeffrey Mizzell, Gary Mizzell, Jason Lantz, Michael Taylor, Lee Taylor and Austin Mizzell.
Mattie was born on February 19, 1923, in Rosinville, one of twenty-one children of the late Julius Jacob Kizer and Mary Julia DeWitt Kizer. She attended St. George Public Schools and retired from Carolina Girls Wear. Mattie was an avid gardener, excellent homemaker and exceptional quilter. She was a member of the Dorcas Quilting Club. She was a lifelong member of Indian Field United Methodist Church, WSCS, Senior Country Living Group and Good Cheer Sunday School Class. She is predeceased by her parents; her sons, Melvin P. Mizzell, Julian H. Mizzell, Logan F. Mizzell; daughter Elaine M. Lantz and son in law, Bob Lantz.
Mattie is survived by her son, Marion W. (Linda) Mizzell, Harleyville; daughters-in-law, Brenda (Mike) Taylor, Patricia (George) Mims, all of St. George; grandchildren, Scott (Barb) Mizzell, Tony Mizzell, Stacey Mizzell, Julie Mizzell, Michael (Mae) Taylor, Gary (Suzanne) Mizzell, Jeffrey Mizzell, Lee (Veronica) Taylor, Jason (Kari) Lantz, Kristen (Shawn) Robertson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Hayley, Sybil, T.J. Mizzell, Logan (Bubba) Von Ohsen, Claire Kelly, Aiden Wren Robertson, Mattie Grace and Caroline Lantz, Owen M. Bookhart and Andrew and Peyton Taylor.
