Reka Wimberly Obituary

Reka Bell Wimberly, 81, of Branchville, SC, passed away on April 20, 2024 at MUSC-Orangeburg.

She was born on April 14, 1943, in Duncan Chapel Community and was a 1961 graduate of St. George High School. Reka was known for her involvement in her family farm operation, Wimco Farms, where she was recognized for her daily lunches. She also served as the President of Bowman Gin Company. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she loved serving in many different capacities. Reka found joy in her daily talks with friends on the phone, spending time at the family river home, beach trips, and taking daily golf cart rides around the community where she demanded curb service with a horn blow. She cherished attending Cattle Creek and Indian Field Campmeetings annually. She was dedicated to her local Orangeburg County Farm Bureau for many years where she was Women’s Committee Chair. She was also involved with many Bridge Clubs in the community.

Reka is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harry F. Wimberly, and her children: Eddie Easterling (Teresa Zeigler), Mark Easterling (Renae), Thad Wimberly (Jennifer), and Beth Berry (Jonathan) all of Branchville, SC. She was a loving grandmother to Brooke Easterling, Brantley Mims (James), Jonathan Easterling (Annsley), Hannah Azzarelli (Bryce), Harrison and Benjamin Wimberly, Anna Win, Sawyer, and Amelia Berry. Her great-grandchildren, Wiles Azzarelli and Lawson Mims, brought her immense joy. Reka is also survived by her sister, Claudia Ann Hart, sister-in-law Hazel Looper (John Reid), special daughter Wendy Till, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Claude McKissick and Annie Elizabeth Weathers.
